Seal Speak Privacy Policy

Effective 9 October 2026

In short: Seal runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, store on any server, share, or sell any information about you or the people around you. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

What Seal does with the microphone

Seal listens through your device's microphone only while you are captioning. The sound is turned into text on your device, as it happens, and is then discarded. Seal never records or keeps the audio, and never sends it anywhere.

Speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, running on your device. Telling voices apart ("Speaker 1", "Speaker 2") is also done on your device, by a model built into the app.

What stays on your device

Deleting the app deletes all of this.

What leaves your device

Nothing, unless you choose to send it. If you tap Copy or Share, the conversation text goes only where you send it (for example a message or a note), and from then on that app's privacy terms apply.

The first time you use Seal, your device may download Apple's speech-recognition language files. Apple provides that download, not Seal, and it is covered by Apple's privacy policy. After that, captioning works with no internet connection at all.

What Seal does not do

Children

Seal is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Any change that would make Seal collect or share information would be explained here before it happens.
